Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 23 October 2026

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the coursedata service (“Service”) provided by Stephen Williams trading as coursedata (“we”, “us”, “our”).

By creating an account, starting a trial, or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organisation.

1. The Service

coursedata provides course-related data and benchmarking tools to support university fee-setting, positioning and planning decisions.

The Service may include:

  • Sector and course-level comparisons
  • Benchmarking by institution, subject or region
  • Export of data for local modelling

We may update, improve or modify the Service from time to time.

2. Data and Accuracy

Some of the data available through the Service is collected from publicly available or third-party sources. Other data is generated, derived or inferred by us using modelling, aggregation or estimation techniques. While we take reasonable care in compiling and presenting the data, the Service and all data are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

We do not warrant that:

  • the data is complete, accurate, up-to-date or error-free
  • the data is suitable for any particular decision or purpose
  • inferred or generated data reflects actual figures that would be obtained from primary sources

You acknowledge that any decisions you make using the Service (including fee, positioning or planning decisions) are made at your own risk. You remain solely responsible for verifying information and exercising your own professional judgement.

3. Accounts and Access

You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep your login details secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. We may suspend or restrict access if we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached or if necessary for security or operational reasons.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically extract data beyond the permitted export functions
  • share login credentials or provide access to unauthorised third parties
  • misrepresent the source or nature of the data (including presenting inferred data as primary source data)

5. Intellectual Property

We (or our licensors) own all intellectual property rights in the Service, the platform, and the data compilations, models and inferred datasets we provide.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Service and to export data solely for your internal institutional purposes in accordance with these Terms. You may not resell, redistribute or publicly republish the data without our prior written consent.

6. Fees and Payment

Paid plans are charged according to the pricing shown on our website or in any separate agreement. Fees are payable in advance unless otherwise agreed. We may change prices with reasonable notice. Failure to pay may result in suspension or termination of access.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied (including warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement).
  • We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive losses, including loss of profits, revenue, data, business opportunity or anticipated savings.
  • Our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the Service shall not exceed the fees paid by you for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim (or £100 if no fees have been paid).

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may terminate or suspend your access immediately if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the Service.

On termination, your right to access the Service ends. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law) will continue to apply.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version will be posted on our website. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
